Job Summary

The LSS Black Belt plays an integral role in leading the organization change through formal and informal teaching venues, active 1-on-1 mentoring and troubleshooting with employees, Black Belt level project execution, and articulating a vision of a future state that influences others to change. The LSS Black Belt is a strong customer advocate, often looking at a process or outcome from a customer perspective and acting in the customer's best interest.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a history of inner drive and strong desire to tackle the biggest challenges in an organization. This person needs to be a leader in the organization that can influence others, outside of their reporting structure.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage six sigma project portfolios in order to accomplish measurable business improvement.

  • Support the ongoing continuous improvement processes to enhance business results and customer loyalty utilizing DMAIC.

  • Provide expert knowledge and guidance in the application of Six Sigma tools and processes.

  • Lead cross functional teams that deliver sustained improvement to critical manufacturing and transactional processes to help management achieve strategic goals and impact financial results.

  • Must act as cross functional coach, as well as facilitator to gain buy in, resolve conflict and deliver results while challenging conventional thinking.

  • Maintain the integrity of the Six Sigma process in assigned areas of the organization utilizing Process Mapping.

  • Provide guidance to Green Belts regarding the utilization of six sigma principles for project management and problem solving for continuous improvement of the business.

  • Assess skill development needs of Green Belts and determine the required training for the transfer of knowledge, skills, and abilities.

  • Lead Six Sigma projects as assigned by champions and sponsors to support improvement initiatives

  • Support the sharing of information, best practices and networking among Black Belts. Utilize MSA and FMEA in order to facilitate project selection and analysis.

  • Develop strong partnerships with business leadership and coordinate project closure and sign-off.

  • Ability to develop and maintain tools to calculate/validate capacities, takt time, cycle time, defects, COPQ, and line balance studies.

  • Leverage data analytics to make strategic and tactical business decisions.

Expected Areas of Competence

  • Completes multiple projects while supporting Green Belts development.

  • Experience with DMAIC; VOC; Process Mapping; Utilization of six sigma principles for project management; Lean techniques Kaizen and KJ analysis; MSA and FMEA; Design of Experiments .

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with all areas of the organization.

  • Strong computer skills including Data Capture, Manipulation, Reporting including fluency in MS Office.

Education Requirements

Three (3) to five (5) years' experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience can be academic exposure, Lean Manufacturing experience preferred. * B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent.

Green belt certificate and current activities towards achieving a Black Belt required, Black Belt certified preferred.

Physical Requirements – Working conditions are normal for an office environment.

Travel Requirements – 0% - 20%
