One of the largest multinational service providers to the steel industry is looking for a Logistics Engineer in Gary, Indiana. This company has almost doubled in size over the past two years and is still continuing to grow. The Logistics Engineer will be responsible for scheduling, coordinating and arranging the delivery of products in an efficient and timely manner.
The salary is commensurate with experience up to $55K plus health, dental, vision, PTO, paid holidays, and 401K match.

Dispatch serves as primary contact for the placement of orders.
Determine appropriate routes and trucks to fulfill customer requirements and schedules of drivers.
Dispatch continually monitors personnel locations and utilization in order to coordinate services and schedules.
Review, analyze, and determine need for third-party trucking companies. Locates and liaises with appropriate service-providers and assigns delivery work to third-party trucking companies based on dispatcher's assessment of needs and suitability for the work.
Update well locations as needed and serves as primary contact for third-party trucking companies to ensure timely deliveries to customers.
Analyze and assign trucks for transfers and assigns appropriate warehouse personnel to assist with transfers.
Prepare AES tickets, safety information (e.g., MSDS), and bills of lading for chemical orders and mud trucks.
Confer with customers or supervising personnel in order to address questions, problems, and respond to requests for services or products.
Receive and track incoming inventory in work order system and monitors estimated delivery dates on a daily basis to ensure all products timely arrive as scheduled.
Liaise with and inform the purchasing department of any delays or concerns regarding third-party trucking companies impacting the purchasing function.
Track and update current logs and changes that may occur
Advise personnel and service-providers about traffic problems, such as construction areas, accidents, congestion, weather conditions, hazards, or other special instructions.
Oversee all communications within a specifically assigned territory.
Conduct special projects and all other duties as assigned by the Supervisor
Experience level: Experienced
Minimum 2 years of experience
Education: High School
Scheduling (2 years of experience is preferred)
Warehouse (2 years of experience is preferred)
Shipping (2 years of experience is preferred)
Order Management (2 years of experience is preferred)
Logistics (2 years of experience is preferred)
