BE&K Building Group Distribution & Logistics Construction Manager in Indianapolis, Indiana

The site manager is responsible for the onsite management of material handling equipment (MHE) implementation for specific complex projects, including BE&K’s multi-year, FedEx Indianapolis (INDH) hub renovation and expansion. The site manager will be the onsite BE&K MHE specialist and interface with both the client representatives and BE&K’s subcontracted MHE providers and their team. The site manager will be responsible for working with the client and MHE provider on work planning, equipment delivery/staging, installation QA/QC, issue identification, issue resolution, progress tracking, commissioning, and project reporting. In addition, the site manager will work directly with the BE&K construction team to align planned MHE installation activities with all facility work. The site manager will report directly to the Distribution & Logistics project manager assigned to the project as well as other upper level business unit leaders.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The site manager will have primary responsibility for management of the MHE onsite activities of the project from initial delivery through commissioning, testing, and turnover. In regards to the FedEx Indianapolis project, the site manager will be located onsite in Indianapolis (5) days per week through project completion and will work closely with FedEx, the BE&K project team, and DCI (MHE provider) to lead the MHE onsite activities to a successful conclusion.

FedEx INDH Tactical Day-to-Day Activities

  • Coordinate with all teams (FedEx, BE&K, and DCI) for work plan alignment

  • Work with MHE provider on equipment management (delivery / staging)

  • Coordinate MHE provider installation activities with FedEx and BE&K teams.

  • Provide installation QA/QC inspections to ensure conformance with FedEx quality standards.

  • Perform work plan look ahead reviews

  • Identify potential issues and work with all teams on resolution

  • Track MHE installation progress per schedule

  • Assist in system commissioning and testing

  • Provide project reports (daily/weekly, progress, plans, issues, follow up items, etc.)
