Defense Finance and Accounting Service MANAGEMENT & PROGRAM ASSISTANT in Indianapolis, Indiana

Summary Who may apply: Current, permanent DFAS employees in the competitive service, eligible DoD PPP Military Spouse preference applicants and current DFAS VRA employees. Responsibilities Organizes, collects, analyzes, and presents information related to current and future directorate programs and/or projects. Prepares reports for higher level employees, describing administrative problems that are recurring or causing significant delays or costs, identifying corrective actions, and outlining impacts. Researches data using a variety of sources; analyzes and compiles raw technical, statistical, or narrative data; and arranges into meaningful graphic/visual displays appropriate for management decision-making/presentation to higher officials. Prepares detailed written/oral reports on findings from review and analysis of projects and programs which include narrative and/or graphs, charts, and other exhibits, as required, to reflect and/or explain the status of the project or program. Performs a variety of office support functions to include but not limited to receiving telephone calls/visitors, maintaining management level schedules/calendars, preparing/editing correspondence that meets Agency guidelines, and maintains records. Serves as the primary directorate focal point for the Electronic Business Resiliency Planning (eBRP) system and safety point of contact. Attends meetings, analyzes and synopsizes information and prepares written and oral reports. Serves as the directorate focal point for Property Accountability; maintains hand receipts for accountable property, to include sensitive and pilferable equipment. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-06) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. Specialized Experience is Defined as: Applying practices and procedures in order to provide management support for administrative, clerical, analytical, and visual display of information to support a financial and/or accounting activity. Experience gathering, analyzing and reporting information and visually displaying that information in a usable format through the use of Microsoft products such a PowerPoint, Excel, and Access for executive and senior level customers. Time-in-Grade: Current or former federal employees who have held a GS position in the preceding 52 weeks, must meet the time in grade requirement. Applicant must have served 52 weeks as a GS-06 or higher grade in Federal Service. Education Substitution of Education for Experience: One full year of graduate level education may be substituted to meet the specialized experience required when it is directly related to the work of the position being filled. Equivalent combinations of successfully completed graduate level education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements.
