Job Summary

Black & Veatch (BV) is seeking aRegional Science Lead / Science Writing Symposium & Mentorship Program Managerincludeleadinga regional science team organizing large events, mentorship, local training andresearch projectsatcountry(Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia) &regional-level to supportgrowthof capacity/capability for enhanced disease surveillance, reporting, and responseon behalf of an international assistance project.

Location:

Travel to Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Ukraine.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead implementor of international scientific program including national and regional level events, local training, and international mentorship

  • Coordinates science team requirements with the local logistics team

  • Manage team of local science staff or contractors providing direct feedback on scientific research abstracts

  • Lead implementation of multiple international scientific symposium events in the FSR region hosting 200+ participants

  • Lead coordinator of International Science Writing Mentorship Program (SWMP), including coordination of international subject matter expert mentorship of high potential researchers/research topics;

  • Coordinate necessary reports, communications, reviews, research, etc. for submission to the international donor

  • Track progress of mentees and mentees research

  • Manage the building and establishment of program rapport with Recipient organizations and science community

  • Coordinate and assist with training activities to support the International Science Writing Mentorship Program;

  • Assist international subject matter experts in science activities and development of Cooperative Biological Research (CBR) projects and Threat Agent Detection and Response Projects .

Management Responsibilities

Acts as a project manager. Among responsibilities is management of a project team. The individual comprising this team may vary by project.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong organizational and planning skills, with excellent attention to detail

  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to the prioritization of work tasks, develop and track budgets,andwork in a dynamic environmentwith multiple deliverables a must

  • International collaborative work or peer-reviewed publications (preferred)

  • Fluent in written, spoken English

  • Ideally experience in coordination of scientific research including publications

  • Ability to build relationship at organizational leadership level \

  • Experience managing small teams

  • Comfort with innovation and working remotely managing staff

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Terminal degree (e.g., PhD, Master’s) or equivalents in biological sciences (e.g., microbiology, immunology, epidemiology), veterinary medicine, human medicine, public health, or other science related discipline.
