Are you passionate about research and economics? We’re looking for a Senior Economist to join the Macro Research team within GIR. The position will focus on the macroeconomic outlook for India, and the intersection between economics and financial markets in India across asset classes including equities, fixed income/credit, currencies, and commodities.

From macroeconomic forecasts to individual stock analysis, our team develops tools and insights to help shape investment strategies for clients and the firm. Our analysts work on client-focused research in the equity, fixed-income, currency, and commodities markets, mining big data that enters markets around the world each day to identify game-changing insights. RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS
RESPONSIBILITIES
Working as a leader of the forecast effort on India, the goal of the India Economist is to:
Conceive, implement (with analyst support), and publish research on relevant economic and financial market issues within India Track and forecast India’s keyeconomic data, and assess the implications for economic policy
Communicate views on India’s economy and markets to clients and colleagues within the firm
Collaborate with colleagues on the Asia and global economics teams on broader thematic analysis and research
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Masters or PhD in Economics
Prior experience in analyzing the Indian economy; understanding of key macro data and relevant economic policymaking bodies
Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work with economists across the Asia region as an integrated team member
Excellent command of English is a must; high level of proficiency in Hindi is a plus
Strong analytical and writing skills
Very high energy level; a self-starter. Enthusiastic about the challenges of understanding the Indian economy and its interactions with policy and markets
Able to adapt to changing market conditions by adjusting research focus appropriately and rapidly incorporating new information
