Gillman Home Center Plumbing Dept Head in New Castle, Indiana

The Department Head position is responsible for providing accurate product knowledge, quality and excellent customer service to customers.

Essential Functions:

  • Ensure that each customer receives outstanding customer service by providing a friendly environment which includes greeting and acknowledging every customer, maintaining outstanding standards, solid product knowledge, and all other components of Customer Service.

  • Provides continual evaluation of processes and procedures. Responsible for suggesting methods to improve area operations, efficiency and service to both internal and external customers.

  • Establishes work procedures and processes that support the company and departmental standards, procedures and strategic directives.

  • Responsible for making sure department aisles and product are set up to company standards.

  • Responsible for making sure all products in the department are stocked properly, minimal outs.

  • Front and face dept aisles daily.

  • Make sure aisle are clean and organized.

  • Help out in other departments as necessary.

  • Help customers at check-out as necessary. This may involve actually ringing out a customer at the cash register and/or helping a customer to their vehicle with the product.

Supervisory Responsibility: This position does not currently manage any direct employees.

Work Environment:

  • Ability to process information/merchandise through system and POS Register system.

  • Ability to communicate with associates and guests.

  • Ability to read, count, and write to accurately complete all documentation.

  • Ability to freely access all areas of the store including selling floor, stock area and register area.

  • Ability to operate and use all equipment necessary to run a store.

  • Ability to climb ladders.

  • Ability to move or transfer merchandise throughout the store generally weighing 0-20 pounds.

  • Ability to work varied hours/days as business dictates.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work vary. Must be available to work days, evenings and weekends.

Required Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Knowledge of plumbing products

  • 3 + years of plumbing experience
