National Vision Area Optical Lab Manager in Noblesville, Indiana
Store Operations Management * Monitors and achieves performance goals according to NVI standards for assigned labs. * Leads the communication and implementation of new EGW lab initiatives for their assigned area which includes lab staffing, equipment repairs, maintenance and calibration, inventory control, lab regulatory compliance issues, and job production. * Works with the District Manager to formulate lab development strategies to ensure long-term success. * Provides leadership, guidance, and coaching to Lab Managers regarding lab audits and action items. * Deals with escalated lab issues providing creative and practical solutions for Lab Managers in their assigned areas. * Tracks, reviews, and prepares reports for District Manager and/or EGW Lab Director regarding lab compliance, equipment maintenance and calibration, inventory, and in-store job production in order to monitor, troubleshoot and resolve issues. * Working with the Equipment Repair Center via phone and/or email, troubleshoots and makes repairs to lab equipment. Associate Management * Works with the District Manager to establish and maintain staffing levels, overtime, hours control and proper scheduling of the labs. * Creates an environment of empowerment for associates so they can make the world’s happiest customers. * Leads, coaches, and mentors a team of Lab Managers and Lab Technicians towards effective collaboration and attainment of goals. Partners with the Training Department and Associate Relations to ensure all training and development occur on time and when needed for each associate. * Conducts periodic and monthly conference calls to Lab Managers in their assigned area. * Creates an engagement environment with the Lab Managers around best practices based on initiatives going on in the lab. * College degree preferred. * 5+ years’ optical lab experience. * Experience as lab manager, assistant manager or similar managerial role in the optical industry. * Proven ability to lead, coach and build associate relationships. * Knowledge of lab compliance issues and the audit process. * Able to operate and perform repairs on all lab equipment. * Proficient computer skills. * Sound understanding of optimization of lab operations and standards for success. * Strong communication skills (both oral and written) for effective management of teams. * Strong leader with the ability to interact with and influence others effectively. * Experience in writing reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. * Strong ability to identify and solve problem, analyzes data and translates into recommendations. * Successfully pass a criminal background check. * Ability to occasionally travel throughout the district to perform responsibilities.
