Job Description SummaryReporting to the Sr. Director of Continuous Improvement, the CI Leader – Dist. CI Leader, will deliver cost savings to the NASC business through leadership of targeted waste and scrap reduction efforts within the business and at the distribution.

The CI leader will enhance warehousing efficiency through deployment of lean methodologies, coaching and mentoring of site associates, effective leadership of CI projects with exceptional data collection and visualization.

To deliver value, the CI Leader will execute upon complex projects to reduce waste/damages, possessing the expertise to select the best lean tools and techniques as required.

Job Description

ACCOUNTABILITY AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for driving waste and scrap reduction cost savings across NASC value streams, delivering $500K of savings per year from FY’18 actuals.

  • Lead an end-to-end characterization of waste and scrap across the NASC business, quantifying specific waste generators with COPQ, commercial, and regulatory implications.

  • Supports all CI programs by coordinating with Unit Quality as necessary on Cost-to-Win (CI and Lean Enterprise Initiatives) projects to manage the ACR and GPDS processes, including evaluation of and improvements to those processes.

  • Drive the deployment of Lean, CI, and related tools and methodologies throughout the Distribution and staff sites.

  • Sustains proper behaviors and holds the sites accountable for sustainment of improvements through coaching and leadership.

  • Foster an environment for best practice sharing across all NASC Distribution Centers and Staff associates.

  • Develop tiered management system with NASC cross-functional teams and drive for consistent standards and processes.

  • Form and manage CI project teams within the DC business.

  • Sponsor and influence similar projects across the other DCs, providing site CI leaders with coaching and mentorship.

  • Ensures regulatory and business compliance of Cost-to-Win projects by collaborating with applicable groups.

  • Complies with all local, state, federal, and BD safety and quality regulations, with all business policies and procedures.

  • Ability to lead change across a multi shift operation(s).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Knowledge and experience in Distribution, Manufacturing, project management, and engineering within a GMP medical device environment (preference, but not required)

  • Possess working knowledge of Process Validation for medical device manufacture

  • Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects with varying SQDCT impact

  • Ability to work independently and influence, with and without direct authority, DC associates, staff associates, site management, and senior business management.

  • Ability to lead cross-functional projects with geographically diverse teams

  • Have a thorough understanding of Continuous Improvement methodologies

  • Strong project management expertise

  • Experience with Lean Deployment, developing standard processes, writing procedures, mentoring, and training groups of associates

  • Good understanding of Integrated Business Process for critical functional areas: Operations/Mfg., Supply Chain, R&D, Quality, Regulatory, and Customer Facing

  • Demonstrated Business Process expertise, with an understanding of BDX Business Process Strategy

  • Strong analytical skills, communication abilities, and a track record of problem resolution

  • Knowledge of BDX SAP system.

Education Experience:

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, manufacturing, logistics, operations management or related degree

  • Preferred: A Master’s degree in a related discipline

  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in a business operations, manufacturing or warehousing environment

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience implementing change or continuous improvement.

  • Six sigma certifications required (or relevant experience)

  • Lean Leader certification required (or relevant experience)
