Position Summary:

The Accounts Payable Manager is responsible for managing the Company’s Accounts Payable process and functions in a professional and knowledgeable manner. This position directs and oversees the daily management of the Accounts Payable staff and the processes associated with the payment of invoices, ensuring accuracy of the entire process as it relates to invoice processing, vendor payment, and communication with buyers. The Accounts Payable Manager ensures company policies and procedures are being adhered to as they pertain to Accounts Payable and takes all necessary steps to ensure the proper controls are in place with respect to the proper and appropriate disbursement of cash. This position is also responsible for managing the activities of the Corporate Travel Accountant and overseeing the Company’s strategic approach to travel (travel policy).


  • Sets objectives for the Accounts Payable team that aligns with Company goals

  • Establishes an environment of continuous improvement with respect to the efficiency and effectiveness of the Accounts Payable department

  • Assures timely and accurate disbursement to vendors

  • Ensures invoices are coded and processed accurately

  • Oversees vendor accounts, including communicating with new vendors to set up account information, responding to payment inquiries, and managing vendor details

  • Researches and resolves A/P issues with vendors and suppliers

  • Prepares Daily Cash Tracker to assist Executive Leadership with daily liquidity planning and management

  • Manages monthly closing of financial records and posting of month-end journal entries; ensures accuracy of all Accounts Payable general ledger accounts

  • Develops new policies and process improvements, and implements changes within the department

  • Ensures expenses are recorded in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)

  • Reconciles and prepare 1099’s

  • Responsible for reporting to senior management, including any potential or perceived violations of applicable laws, rules or Company policies

  • Oversees and manages the day-to-day operation of the corporate travel program

  • Responsible for providing information to support Governmental audit requests

  • Other duties and tasks as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, finance, or related field preferred

  • Six or more years of accounting experience

  • One or more years of leadership experience preferred

  • Ability to work both independently and to work collaboratively in teams

  • Experience working with generally accepted accounting principles and accounting software

  • Must have SAP system experience, as well as 1099 filing experience

  • Strong personal computer and business solutions software skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills for interacting with other AMG departments, external suppliers, and AMG Executive Leadership

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Good planning and organizational skills to balance and prioritize workload

  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment is strongly preferred

Physical Effort:

  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.

  • The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls.

  • The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.

  • The employee must occasionally lift and or move objects up to 25 pounds.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Working Conditions:

  • This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routine uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copiers/scanning, fax machines, and file cabinets.

  • Must be able to perform duties under pressure or in physically or mentally challenging situations.

  • Position will require moving through, about, and working in an industrial area (prototype shop, manufacturing facility, etc.).

  • Position will require participation or leading meetings/reviews outdoors within parking lots, commercial and government test facilities and customer hosted events.

  • Position requires attending formal and informal social events with the customer.

  • Travel is required (25 % required).
