Our Valparaiso, IN location is seeking Driver/Utility Associate to join our team. The ideal candidate would be willing to learn, is dependable and would work well on a team.Are you ready to shape the future with us?THE POSITIONAs a Driver/Utility Associate, you will deliver and pick up parts and finished goods in the Valparaiso, Indiana and surrounding areas. No overnight trips will be required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.Demonstrated ability to lift up to 75 lbs.Ability to obtain a Medical Card certification through a Department of Transportation (DOT) physicalValid drivers licenseNo more than 6 points for moving violations/accidents in the previous 36 months (see POINTS criteria below); no more than 2 of the same violation in the previous 36 monthsBasic vehicle maintenance skills (filling gas, checking fluids/tire pressure, etc.)Continental is not able to pay relocation expenses for this opportunity.POINTS(2 Points each): Speeding 1-10 MPH, improper stop, lane restriction violations, unsafe operation of motor vehicle, careless driving, failure to yield, improper turn, improper passing, improper U-turn, improper backing, failure to use a seatbelt(3 Points each POV): Speeding 11-15 MPH, allowing non-licensed operator, improper lane change, following too closely, using hand-held mobile device, failure to report accident, racing(4 Points each CMV): Speeding 16-24 MPH, using a radar detection device, driving while license is suspended or revoked, speeding in a construction zone (year 2-3), wrong way on highway (year 2-3), unauthorized passenger (year 2-3), violating (jumping) OOS order (year 2-3), reckless driving (year 2-3), at-fault accident (no more than a maximum of 3 in 36 months and not DOT reportable)MOVING VIOLATIONS WITH TIMEFRAME(1 year from violation date): Unauthorized passenger (CMV)(2 years from violation date): Speeding in a construction zone, wrong way on highway, failure to report accident, racing, violating (jumping) OOS order, reckless driving(3 years from violation date): Speeding 25+, 1 preventable DOT reportable accident without fatality, operating a CMV without a CDL, DUI/DWI or other alcohol violation (POV)(5 years from violation date): Speeding 21+ (CMV), evading or eluding, hit and run, leaving the scene of an accident, passing a school bus, false report to dept, any railroad crossing accidents or violationsPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSMinimum of 1 year of commercial driving experience.Operation of forklift, loading and unloading equipment.General understanding of basic safety procedures.Openness to flexible or rotating shift plan (days/nights).OTHER GUIDELINESAny applicant with a citation for any illegal drug or drug paraphernalia will not be considered for employment.Any applicant who has failed or refused a drug test will NOT be considered for employment.Any applicant who has failed or refused a DOT alcohol test, or who has any DOT alcohol violations will NOT be considered for employment.Any other situation not noted within these guidelines will be reviewed before an employment decision is made.EEO StatementEEO / AA / Disabled / Protected Veteran Employer.
